Visit us and see, first-hand, the raptors in action in our daily free-flight, interactive demonstrations.....
One of the primary roles of the African Bird of Prey Sanctuary is to introduce raptors, in all their magnificence, to the general public. People, both young and old, and from all walks of life come away with an appreciation of South Africa's fantastic diversity of raptor after seeing the birds first-hand.
The sanctuary is headed up by husband and wife team, Ben and Shannon Hoffman and cares for over 180 different birds of prey of 50 different species. Although the sanctuary is situated on 60 hectares of scenic valley bushveld, it is within easy reach of both Pietermaritzburg and Durban.
The shows demonstrate the flying abilities of various Raptors and Owl and are 'open air' so bring a hat, sunscreen and a jacket! These displays are weather dependent so, if in doubt, please give us a call before you leave home to make sure (031 785 2981).
Vulture Feeding Sessions take place around noon on weekends.
Please phone and confirm should this activity be your primary reason for visiting.
